Australian grocery chain Woolworths says "about 1000 people" have commented on its Facebook page asking for steamed hams.
"It started Monday night", a Woolworths social media specialist told BuzzFeed News. "We've had about 1000 people come and make comments about it. Lots of fun banter."
"We've received a lot of feedback from you all in the last 24 hours about whether we stock 'Steamed Hams'," wrote Woolworths on its Facebook. "Please note that in Australia, we call them Hamburgers. 'Steamed Hams' is an Albany, New York expression."
"Steamed hams" is a term used in the Simpsons episode "22 Short Films About Springfield." In it, Principal Skinner tries to convince Superintendent Chalmers that hamburgers are called "steamed hams" in upstate New York.

The whole thing with Woolworths seems to have started in the "Simpsons Shitposting" Facebook group. The 50,000+ group routinely generates memes, the "steamed hams" episode being a favourite.
