“From the studio that inexplicably sewed his f***ing mouth shut the first time, comes five-time Academy Award viewer Ryan Reynolds…”
The first footage from Deadpool — the R-rated adaptation of the Marvel comic book that stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular mutant anti-hero — debuted on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con, and everyone LOVED it!
In fact, the audience loved it so much, they vocally demanded en masse to see it again.
And it's easy to understand why: The trailer — which Fox does not have immediate plans to post online due, in part, to music rights clearance issues — is exactly the bracingly irreverent breath of fresh air the self-important superhero genre desperately needs.
Deadpool gleefully spews an unbroken string of self-aware, profane pronouncements, and here are the best ones from the footage, in chronological order.

"Just don't make the super suit green. Or animated!"
During the panel, Reynolds said that prior to Deadpool, he had only made one "proper superhero movie — sorry, not proper — superhero movie," a pointed dig at 2011's Green Lantern (and, in a way, also at X-Men Origins: Wolverine). That sentiment seems to have carried over into the movie.
